Designed to develop well-rounded individuals of diverse business backgrounds, this two-year rotational program creates outstanding contributors who have the potential to become future leaders in finance and accounting. Starting your first day on the job, you will make contributions to Cardinal Health through:

About finance at Cardinal Health

The finance team at Cardinal Health is a strategic internal partner that helps drive value creation and quality growth for the company. The team is a consultative business partner and counselor, participating in and leading decision-making processes.

Finance is an active, dynamic department where employees have hard-hitting, meaningful responsibilities. More than a support function providing reports to decision-makers, members of the finance function are committed to providing critical analyses and innovative solutions while advising about and fostering continual performance enhancements.

Rotational program goals

The financial program's goals suppor our primary objective of developing recent college graduates into outstanding contributors who will become future Cardinal Health leaders. The Financial Rotational Program typically lasts two years. Each year-long rotation will offer you a level of opportunity and responsibility not normally afforded to recent college graduates, providing you with accelerated career development.

Technical, financial and business skills will be developed through on-the-job experiences and training, which may include the following:

Training and development
During your first year in the program, you will be offered training in Cardinal Health financial systems as well as common software packages such as Microsoft® Access and Excel. Other training and development opportunities will take place on the job. You will also participate in workshops focusing on business acumen, financial statement preparation and analysis, team building and analytical thinking. Your first year is highlighted with the chance to develop informal mentoring relationships and attend lunches with managers from multiple businesses.

In your second year, you will build on skills learned during the first year. You will complete case studies focusing less on base technical skills and more on financial management and strategic and innovative thinking abilities. You can also attend training sessions relating to career path development, leadership skills, presentation skills and interview skills

Program requirements and selection process
The finance program primarily recruits accounting and finance majors. In addition to this, minimum requirements for the program include:
  • Nine hours of accounting coursework
  • GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
  • Relevant internship experinece preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication and analytical skills
  • Established work ethic and ambition

The candidate selection process begins with two 30-minute, on-campus interviews of pre-selected students conducted by management-level employees from Cardinal Health. For candidates who do not attend a campus which Cardinal Health recruits, an initial phone interview is conducted in place of the on-campus interview.

If you are chosen to complete additional interviews from the first-round process, you will be invited to our offices for a second round. These occur over a day and a half and focus on providing you with an orientation to Cardinal Health and our program. This process allows you to learn more about our company and culture first-hand, helping you make an informed decision about your career.


 
Program length: Two-three years consisting of twelve-month long rotations
Location: Nationwide locations with several opportunities in San Diego, the greater Chicagoland area and central Ohio
Minimum requirements:
  • A degree in finance or accounting
  • GPA of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 scale
  • 9 hours of accounting credits
  • Relevant internship experience
  • Strong leadership, communication and analytical skills
