Community programs

Cardinal Health is committed to supporting the communities where our employees live and work through local partnerships with organizations devoted to the areas of health, wellness and vibrant communities.

Apply for support online or contact us with questions about community programs or our other initiatives.

All funding of community programs is decided by local committees comprised of Cardinal Health employees and senior business leaders. Before approving funding, the committee considers:
  • the purpose of the program
  • whether Cardinal Health has a major employee presence in the community
  • whether the program contributes to the overall health and vitality of the community
Notice: Cardinal Health will begin accepting grant applications in July 2008 for community support. Electronic applications must be submitted no later than August 29, 2008 for consideration. Following this funding cycle, applications will again be considered with a February 27, 2009 deadline. We are in the process of reformatting our philanthropic goals so please watch this website for further details about the topics of interest and geographic locations.


Groups, programs and activities not supported

Cardinal Health does not support:
  • Organizations without IRS 501(c)(3) or equivalent tax-exempt status
  • Organizations or projects outside the United States

Cardinal Health also does not support:
  • Endowments
  • Religious organizations or sectarian programs for religious purposes
  • Member-based organizations including chambers of commerce, rotary clubs or IRS 501(c)(4) legions and associations
  • Veteran, labor, and political organizations or campaigns
  • Fraternal, athletic or social clubs
  • Municipalities including fire and police departments
  • Requests for loans or debt retirements
  • Individual endeavors or needs
  • Organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, disability, religion, ethnic origin, gender or sexual orientation
  • Organizations with divisive or litigious public agendas
  • Sports teams or athletic competitions
  • Advertising
