The Cardinal Health Essential to Community Program provides eligible employees with the opportunity to make individual donations to any approved charitable organization through the
Cardinal Health Giving Station
- Donations of $25 or more will be matched by the Cardinal Health Foundation
- Health related or schools/scholarship programs are matched at 100%
- Other charitable categories are matched at 50%
- Employees are eligible for up to $2,000 in matching funds per calendar year
- Donations to United Way chapters are matched at 50%
- No minimum contribution is required
- United Way donations are excluded from the $2,000 annual matching cap
There are four ways to make a donation through the
Cardinal Health Giving Station
- Payroll deduction (one-time or on-going)
- Credit card
- Check
- Securities
Please note: Donations made through the Cardinal Health Giving Station are batch processed monthly and checks are sent to charitable organizations approximately 30 - 45 days after the end of the month in which the donation was pledged.
The Cardinal Health Essential to Community Program provides eligible employees with the opportunity to apply for grants to recognize their involvement with an approved charitable organization. Grant applications are available via the
Cardinal Health Giving Station
There are three types of Essential to Community grants available:
- Team Fundraising Grants are available for employees who:
- Are part of a team of at least three Cardinal Health employees
- Raise funds, outside of normal working hours, through a ‘grass roots’ effort for an eligible charity
- Must apply after fundraising event has taken place
- Team Building Grants are available for employees who:
- Are part of a team of at least three Cardinal Health employees.
- Who volunteer their time for a hands-on team service project for an approved non-profit organization.
- Team Building grants are calculated by the number of team hours spents on a project. Grants are available up to $2,000.
- Team volunteer activities that take place during work hours must be approved and supported by the team manager or senior leadership.
- Volunteer Leadership Grants are available to employees if they:
- Serve as a board member for an approved organization;
- Chair a major committee or fundraiser; or
- Demonstrate meaningful leadership in some other way.
- Volunteer Leadership Grants are awarded at $3,500. Approved charitable organizations are eligible to receive up to two Volunteer Leadership Grants per fiscal year.
Employees classified as regular, non-union employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in the Cardinal Health Essential to Community Program.
For inclusion in the program, organizations must be designated as 501(c)(3) by the IRS and must not fall within the categories below.
